DREAM: Bird Spiders - 2019/01/24
So, I don't remember
much of the dream now,
but there were bird spiders
who were frozen
and when they unthawed
and came back to life.
They had the heads of birds
and the bodies
of spiders with spindly legs.
My dream cat could eat them
without much difficulty,
if he could catch them.

DREAM: Shapeshifter - 2020-01-20 (2 of 2)
I was a shapeshifter.
I went to a carnival act and it was presented by shapeshifters. There were three shapeshifters presenting prominently.
There was the leader who was dark-haired as a human, kind of a weasely face. A blonde fellow, looked late teens. Kind of like Rocky from Rocky Horror Picture Show, but he wore clothes. I didn't speak to him at all, he was just ways there.
The woman looked a bit like Salma Hayek.
Of course, I developed a crush on her.
I watched the show, then afterwards tried to talk with them. Weasel guy was very rude, but Salma and I went and hung out for a while.
After that, Weasel guy was very standoffish and argumentative, but not violent. I tried to keep seeing Salma at their shows, but he forbid it.
I didn't understand the problem.
I ended up sneaking into their house and walking around looking for them.
I wound up meeting Weasel, face to face, not explaining why I was in the house, but instead trying to get him to calm down about me, saying I was not a threat to him.
"We are in different leagues, neither is better than the other, they are just different. I am not a threat to you."
He kept yelling at me to get out and something else that I can't remember and that he didn't want me to be around at all.
Friend 1: I think the blonde shapeshifter represents a part of you that you need to remember to nurture (the baby from the previous dream grown up a bit). Don't forget who you are and to take care of yourself while you learn to interpret the ever changing, exotic people and surroundings you are currently in. ❤

DREAM: Baby - 2020-01-20 (1 of 2)
Someone gave me a baby to look after.
I was looking after the baby in my sister's house. The baby was white, blonde and his face was very animated.
The baby was cute, but had a problem with peeing. I held the baby close until I felt something wet and realized he peed. No one gave me any diapers so I had to carry the baby around looking for diapers.
I put the baby down at some point because I was hunting for diapers. I found diapers, but they may have been too small.
I heard whimpering and I turned back to see the baby peeing on his own face.
At first, I just watched the urine make designs on the baby's face, but then I put the diaper over him.
The designs stayed on the face, so I moved the baby to the bathtub to wash him off.
I filled the water pretty full (fuller than what is considered safe), and he sat up watching me grab a rag.
I used the water with the rag to clean his face.
Friend 1: My take is that you may have forgotten or overlooked something important and now it's gonna take more effort to fix.
Or it could be something you have assigned a huge importance to in your life really isn't a big deal and ya should treat it like a dog would.. Play with it, eat it, or piss on it and walk away.

DREAM: Mr Li and My Childhood Home - 2020/03/10
Mr Li (driver for the foreign teachers in the college where I work in China) picked me up from somewhere. It was a parking lot. I had luggage. He wasn't driving the school van. It was a four door sedan. I don't remember the color.
I had a red rolling suitcase. As I was loading it, he said something, I don't remember what, but it made me uncomfortable. I am not easily shaken, so whatever he said must have been pretty significant. The weirder part is, Mr Li doesn't speak English (he understands it IRL, so I think he can, he just doesn't). Whatever he says, I am able to understand it.
We pull up to a stop in front of my childhood home. The house is still standing (it was demolished IRL almost 20 years ago). I get out of the car and start berating Mr Li for what he said and "the energy you were expressing towards me made me uncomfortable." I don't think he responded, but I was wigged all the way out.
I take my suitcase and close the trunk. I walk towards the house. He drives off before I get in the house. The door is not the same as I remember. It's on the same part of the house (the left side of the porch as you face it). I get into the door, it is painted green on the inside (this doesn't feel right, but I don't remember the door color from my youth). I am worried that Mr Li is going to come back and harm me, so I close the door behind me, but it is in such bad shape I don't feel secure. I lock it on the handle at the left side of the door (facing it from the inside). The hinges on right side of the door are barely hanging on, so much that I can see outside. I pull the door closer to the jamb and use a deadbolt lock to "secure" it. I prop a white aluminum door, also barely on the hinges, against this door, but I don't feel safe.
I turn to look at the inside of the house. I don't remember much, except that it looks the same as I remember from being a kid. The difference is, it is bare, almost nothing is left in the house. There is a tan vibe through the house, I don't remember if tan was a prevailing color, but it felt familiar. The wall to my left as I am looking in is flimsy particle board with a gray, faux wood pattern. The gray, upright piano may have still been there.
I turn to my right and see a wooden community center table covered with junk. The house has a huge (HUGE) bay window. More than half of the front of the living room. This window couldn't open IRL. There are two, smaller windows one on each side and they would slide up 6 inches or so to open (I don't remember if they were there IRL). All three windows were open and I couldn't close them. There was no screen to keep bugs out.
Somehow I see that it is 80 degrees inside and I am reminded of another time I was here (in a dream where the heater was running constantly to counter the open windows) where my brother and oldest sister were living in this house and it was in similar disrepair. Neither of them are here now.
On the community center table in front of the window is a mass amount of garbage. There is a long piece of cardboard that looks like it is supposed to fit under the open window and I try to wedge it there. If the heater is running, I should make sure I am not wasting energy. After this, I look again at the table and notice how much mold and crap (figuratively) is on the tables. Toys, papers. Garbage. Three pizza boxes with left over slices covered in mold.

DREAM: Glider Crash 20/04/03
An Adrien-Brody-type wearing faded fatigues has his canvas duffel bag over his shoulder and is about to strike out on his own. He walks out of the barracks, grabs a black stocked military rifle. As he heads towards what appears to be a barren wasteland his commanding officer stops him.
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?"
"Pretty sure, yeah."
"Are you ready for what's out there?"
"Hrm?"
Suddenly there's a noise and the man drops his canvas bag and aims the rifle. He takes a shot and you hear something crack, like a clay pigeon. He takes another shot, same deal. He takes a third shot...
Follow the bullet into the sky. See it pass a white drone.
Something happens and a man riding a four-winged glider carrying four other men inside suddenly goes limp and starts sliding off of one of the front wings. This disrupts the glider's equilibrium. He barely grips as he slides off of the wing into oblivion.
See the scene again, the white drone is what killed the man and the bullet whizzed right by. A red trail clings to the glider wing in the man's stead. Before he drops off, he weakly says, "guide her down" and loses his grip, Gandalf-v-Balrog-style.
The four men inside look at each other with terror. It is me, Patrice O'neil (RIP), and a couple other whites, 2009 Jay Harrington, and a young Michael J. Fox.
Me and MJF each grab the emergency steering cords. We successfully guide the glider back to level. Then the four of us figure a water landing will be better and figure out how to guide the plane towards the bridge close by.
We approach the water at high speed. We are headed into a controlled shallow dive. Once we hit the ground, the bottom of the glider tears off and we skim along the water, weighing down the glider mostly as it comes to a stop. Unfortunately, Jay is injured and as we try to get him into the glider so we can get ourselves to the bridge, he slips off and sinks into the black water.
We lament loudly, but we need to get to the bridge. We push the glider toward the bridge. There's a wall where we can climb up and to some rocks and eventually to a busy road. I remember I have ¥170 for each of us for moments like these where the average misadventure might only cost ¥70 (wtf brain?!).
It's difficult to get up to the stairs that would take us up to where we could get help, but we do. I see cars whipping by on the freeway, but also bikes and scooters. The bridge doesn't look anything like I know of.
Patrice is sweating profusely. MJF is more rational and says we need to get a cab. None of us have a phone, but for some reason I now have a theatre sized cup of lemonade. We look at the expanse between where we are and the quick freeway. I hand the lemonade to Patrice.
He looks at me confused.
I say, "You look thirsty."
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?"
"Pretty sure, yeah."
"Are you ready for what's out there?"

DREAM: Andrew Yang and the Grocery Store
I went to an Andrew Yang Open mic.
Except it wasn't really an open mic.
Andrew was giving speeches and talking, but wasn't letting anyone else share anything.
When people would ask, he would say, "Don't you know what an open mic is? Sit down, I am talking."
This incited my anger, because he is defiling my show host sensibilities. I go down to the stage from my perch in the stands and yell, "what you're doing now is not an open mic, you're just giving speeches. If you want to just give speeches, fine, but don't call it an open mic."
He doesn't respond, but I am too angry to listen anyway. I storm back up the stands to get my stuff, ranting, "man, I supported him when he was running for president, but he's being a shit head right now."
My friend C is there (surprisingly because I have seen him once in the last 7 years). He has his sweet APKLPS car (black, stick shift, sports car). I say, "I'm hungry, let's go to a grocery store and get something." He agrees and we go.
We pull up and the entire experience is confusing. I am somehow without a shirt and I am wearing my house slippers, but no one seems to notice.
C and I go into the store and start picking up things. Basics. Snacks. What have you. There is something I throw into the shopping cart for me, he tossed it out and says, "no way" but I am stubborn and try to throw it back. He blocks my hand. I wait until he is far away. I fling the item like a frisbee and it hits inside the cart, but falls out through the cage bottom. "Whatever," I say and move along.
We each have our things at the self check out. He chooses one side, I choose the other side. Unfortunately, in front of me is a guy going unbelievably slow. I get impatient and ask "what's the problem?"
His groceries are just a bunch of tiny little candies and can't be scanned individually. So I say, put them in a bag and weigh them and scan that. He refuses saying, "but I only want this many and I want to pay for them individually." I have no time for this shit.
I get into C's line. C is finished. The store is about to close. I scan my stuff fast and am ready to pay with my card, but just as I am about to swipe ... the lights go out. Only small spotlights light up where I move and instantly shut back off when I move out of the small illuminated area. The entry pad is a mess, I don't recognize any of the buttons except the on button, but finally I am able to get my items paid for and we can leave.
We walk out of the store and to his car. It's snowing and I'm sliding, but finally able to get up the little concrete hill to C's car. I open the door and notice my bare legs. I ask, "Have I been shirtless, wearing only slippers this whole time?"
